Prevent outdoor spigots from freezing by disconnecting and draining all hoses before the first freeze, installing frost-free hose bibs that have a long valve stem reaching back into a warm wall, adding insulated faucet covers for extra protection, and shutting off the interior shutoff valve to outdoor spigots if your home has one.

Winter prep checklist

  • Disconnect and drain garden hoses by mid-October
  • Open spigots to drain trapped water
  • Add insulated foam faucet covers
  • Close interior shutoff valves to outdoor spigots if available
  • Replace standard hose bibs with frost-free models

We install frost-free spigots through our pipes and lines service.
