2025 marks a big moment for all of us at Mainstream Electric, Heating, Cooling & Plumbing — 25 years of helping our neighbors keep their homes safe, comfortable, and running smoothly. From our first job in Spokane back in 2000 to serving communities all across the Inland Pacific Northwest today, we’ve been proud to be the trusted team you can count on.
We wouldn’t be here without you — our customers, our community, and our dedicated team members. Thank you for letting us into your homes, trusting us with your repairs, and calling on us in every season.
A Brand Built to Last — and Recognize
If you’ve lived in the Inland Northwest for a while, there’s a good chance you’ve seen our bright blue trucks, our bold yellow accents, and of course, our mascot Zapp. Zapp started as a way to make our phone number easy to remember — 866-411-ZAPP — but he quickly grew into a symbol of our energy, care, and connection to the community. Over time, his look evolved from a simple black-and-white design to the smiling, heart-carrying figure you see today, representing all our services: electrical, heating, cooling, and plumbing.
Our name, Mainstream, was chosen to stand out and stay strong. It spoke to the urgency and reliability we bring to every home service call, and it still does today. Our colors — the vibrant “Mainstream blue” and Zapp’s signature yellow — help us stand out while reminding our team and customers that we’re here to deliver 5-star service with heart.
If you want to see the full story of how Mainstream’s brand came to life — including the real origin of Zapp and how we settled on our striking colors — you can read our full Origins of Mainstream article.
Growing to Meet Your Needs
Over the years, we listened closely to what our customers needed. That’s why we expanded into heating and cooling services, keeping homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Then, we added full plumbing services so our customers could make one call for all their home system needs.
We’ve also grown our reach — from serving just Spokane and Spokane Valley to taking care of homes across the Inland Pacific Northwest, including Post Falls, Coeur d’Alene, and the communities in between. What started with just a handful of team members under founders Todd and Elaine Damschen is now led by General Manager Brahn Shinkle, carrying forward the vision of supporting the community and delivering reliable service.
Our Impact in the Community
Mainstream has always believed that being part of the community means giving back. Over the years, we’ve sponsored local events, supported youth programs, and partnered with organizations that make a difference in the Inland Pacific Northwest. From free safety checks for families in need to volunteering our time and skills, we’ve worked to lend a hand wherever we can.
We’ve been there during snowstorms, summer heat waves, and unexpected emergencies, making sure our neighbors have the comfort, safety, and peace of mind they deserve. For us, service doesn’t end when the job is done — it’s about being a reliable presence in the lives of the people who call this region home.
25 Years Strong… and Just Getting Started
While we’re proud of our history, we’re even more excited about what’s ahead. Homes are changing, technology is improving, and we’re ready to bring those advancements to the Inland Pacific Northwest.
We’ve already started by upgrading the options we offer for energy-efficient HVAC systems — equipment that heats and cools more effectively while using less energy, helping you save on utility bills and reduce your environmental footprint. As trade standards and regulations shift, we’re also preparing for emerging refrigerants and high-efficiency heat pumps designed to perform in our region’s extreme winters and hot summers.
That same commitment to innovation is guiding us into smart home comfort systems. From Wi-Fi thermostats to connected controls that manage temperature, humidity, and air quality, we’re making it easier for homeowners to stay comfortable and in control from anywhere. On the plumbing side, we’re embracing advanced water quality solutions that extend the life of your pipes and appliances while protecting your family’s health.
Looking further ahead, we’re expanding into EV charger installation and maintenance as more households make the switch to electric vehicles. This ensures our customers have the convenience and confidence of charging at home while contributing to a cleaner future.
For us, embracing new technology isn’t just about staying current — it’s about keeping our promise. Every service we add and every improvement we make is aimed at helping you enjoy the best comfort, safety, and value from your home for decades to come.
We’re Here for You With Solutions, Not Surprises.
