Schedule a furnace tune-up once a year, in the fall before heating season starts. A pre-heating-season tune-up catches anything that needs attention before the first cold snap and ensures the furnace is running at peak efficiency throughout winter. Heat pumps and dual-fuel systems should also be serviced in the spring for cooling.
