Yes — gas and electric tankless water heaters have very different installation requirements. Gas units need a larger gas line, dedicated venting (concentric or stainless steel), and combustion air; electric units need a much larger electrical service — often a dedicated 120-amp circuit — and dedicated breaker space. Gas units typically deliver higher flow; electric units are easier to install when gas isn’t available.
Gas vs. electric tankless
- Gas — Higher flow rates, needs gas line upgrade and venting
- Electric — Simpler venting, but heavy electrical demand
- Most large homes need gas for full-house flow
- Electric works well for additions or supplementary use
We size and install both through tankless water heaters, often coordinated with gas line work or electrical panel upgrades.
