Yes — many newer electric vehicles support vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging, letting you use the EV’s battery as backup power for your home during outages. This requires a compatible vehicle (Ford F-150 Lightning, GM Ultium platform, some Hyundai/Kia, Nissan Leaf), a bidirectional charger, and a transfer switch or smart panel — all of which a licensed electrician installs.

What it takes

  • Compatible EV (V2H or V2L capable)
  • Bidirectional charger (not all EV chargers support this)
  • Transfer switch or smart panel
  • Manufacturer-approved electrical setup
  • Permit and inspection

We install bidirectional EV systems through our EV charging service, alongside backup power integration.
