A high-pressure water pump works by using a motor-driven impeller to add energy to the water as it passes through, raising its pressure on the outlet side. A pressure tank stores some pressurized water so the pump doesn’t have to run every time you open a faucet, and a pressure switch turns the pump on and off based on system demand.
