The electric meter measures the electricity you use, and the mast (or service entrance) is the conduit and weatherhead that carries utility wires from overhead service drop into the meter and then into your panel. The mast is your responsibility above the meter; the wires above the weatherhead are the utility’s responsibility.

How the path works

  • Utility line drops to the weatherhead
  • Wires run down through the mast (your conduit)
  • Wires terminate at the meter (utility-owned, on your house)
  • Power flows from the meter into your main panel
  • Panel distributes to every circuit in the home

Mast damage, leaning, or corrosion is the homeowner’s responsibility and requires a licensed electrician. We handle mast repair, replacement, and full service upgrades through electrical panel and power restoration services.
