Smart Home & Safety

The electrical that protects your family.

Hard-wired smoke and CO detectors save lives — replaceable battery units don’t always. Smart thermostats save 10–15% on heating and cooling. Smart-home wiring done up front is half the cost of retrofitting later. Whole-home power safety prevents the small electrical issues from becoming fires.

We install for both residential and commercial properties across Washington and Idaho. Code-compliant, integrated with whatever smart-home ecosystem you’ve chosen (Alexa, Google, Apple Home, SmartThings, Control4), and backed by a written warranty.

  • Licensed in WA & ID Washington and Idaho licensed, bonded, and insured — residential and commercial.
  • Stocked trucks Breakers, switches, outlets, wiring, and diagnostic gear on board for one-trip repairs.
  • Flat-rate quotes Approved before any work — never charged by the hour.
  • Warrantied work 1-year labor warranty plus full manufacturer parts coverage.

When to Call

Safety and smart-home triggers

Some of these are required by code. Others are preventive. All of them matter.

  • Battery-only smoke detectors

Modern code requires interconnected hard-wired smoke and CO detectors throughout the home.

  • Detectors over 10 years old

Smoke and CO detectors expire — even hard-wired units need replacement every 10 years.

  • Outdated thermostat

Mechanical or non-programmable thermostats waste 10–15% on heating and cooling.

  • New build or major remodel

The best time to add smart-home wiring is during construction — half the cost vs retrofit.

  • Frequent power surges

Whole-home surge protection at the panel guards every device in the house.

  • Selling the home

Inspections often flag missing or outdated CO detectors — fix before listing.

Smart Home & Safety — Frequently Asked Questions

Are hard-wired smoke detectors required?

In Washington and Idaho new construction and significant remodels, yes. Existing homes are grandfathered with battery-only detectors, but interconnected hard-wired detectors are dramatically more reliable. We can add hard-wired detectors to any home.

How often should smoke and CO detectors be replaced?

Every 10 years for smoke detectors, every 5–7 years for CO detectors. The internal sensors degrade — even hard-wired units. If yours are over 10 years old, replace.

Will it work with my Alexa/Google/Apple Home?

Yes. We install equipment that integrates with Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, SmartThings, Hubitat, Control4, and Crestron. Tell us your existing ecosystem and we’ll match it.

What's a C-wire?

The ‘common’ wire that powers smart thermostats. Most older homes don’t have one at the thermostat. We can add a C-wire run, install an adapter at the air handler, or recommend a smart thermostat that runs without one.

Do you handle commercial security and safety?

Yes. Commercial-grade smoke and CO systems, occupancy sensors, and smart lighting controls for offices, restaurants, and retail in both Washington and Idaho.

Is the work warrantied?

Every install includes a 1-year Mainstream labor warranty plus the manufacturer warranty on equipment (typically 2–10 years).
